Book Review – The Caster Chronicles

Okay, so I didn’t have much to say about the Caster Chronicles Books 2, 2.5 and 3, so I’m putting their reviews in this one post, then I’ll make Book 4 a separate post, and you’ll see why when it’s up.

So here goes –  BE WARNED, THERE ARE SPOILERS HERE!!!

Beautiful Darkness – Book 2 ★★★★★

CC Bk2This book was just as great as the first.

I cried a few times. I thought Lena was frustrating, annoying and stupid for most of the book, which is exactly how I was supposed to feel. As confused as Ethan was. This is why using Ethan as the main character, and giving the story from his POV was such a genius move. You couldn’t have got that suspense from Lena’s POV.

I didn’t see the whole Aunt Prue thing coming, nor the Macon and Jane, or the Link ending. I knew about the cat and Macon and a few smaller things, but I love a great twist that totally takes you by surprise. It’s what this book lives for.

Everything has changed now, so there’s no clue as to where it might go. All the baddies are still as bad, and I look forward to seeing them again. Onto the 2.5 Dream Dark and then I can get straight into books 3 and 4. Can’t wait to see how this series is going to end, but I know that I’m going to miss it when it’s gone.

Dream Dark – Book 2.5 ★★★★★

CC Bk 2.5I really enjoyed this short story. It’s a little snippet of Link after he turned Linkubus and how he’s coping with that transition.

However, I was more than a little disappointed at the length. I got to about 40% of the way through, less than halfway through the file, and it was finished. The rest were a sneak peek of chapters of Beautiful Chaos. Colour me disappointed.

Beautiful Chaos – Book 3 ★★★★★

CC Bk3If I could give this book more than 5 starts, I would. Trust me. Because – this book broke my heart.

I’ve loved Ethan ever since Book 1, went straight into Book 2 and then 2.5 and now 3. Each one has been better than the last and each one has made my cry…again and again…and again.

Lena recovered from her stint as the annoying, weepy, want-to-slap-you pain that she was in the last book and went back to who she used to be, which was great. Ridley just keeps getting better and better every time you see her. And I’m even more in love with Link than I am with Ethan…and that’s saying a lot.

I love the story, I love the characters, I love the words, the emotion, the feeling…I love everything. If I were to detail everything I liked, I’d be here forever…If I were to write out anything I didn’t like in this book, this would be blank. Enough said – onto Book 4.
