  1. Thanks for this article, Elle.

Fight scenes in books are often boring!
I cannot think of a well-written fight scene in a book that is not gory and gruesome.
I am a new, but prolific writer with six self-pubbed books and two more waiting on covers. Good fight scenes are a point of pride; my best ones are in the fourth and fifth books. These books are whimsical in nature, and contain no graphic violence, but are filled with action. My preferred method of storytelling is to have a third person on hand to do a play by play of the fight with dialogue.

    Happy Reading!
    Your pal,

    1. 😀 Yes, so true. I’ve read some fight scenes that were great for action, but unrealistic, and some that were so realistic that it was boring. LOL. The worst are those paint by numbers scenes, where it’s all description and no real involvement.
