This is a new feature for 2016. Here, I’ll be sharing the info about some of my favourite movies of all time.
To start with, I’m choosing Roxie Hart. It’s a prequel to Chicago, but a little more faithful than the newest version, considering that the real story involves a woman who doesn’t commit a crime pleading guilty for the fame it offers. (The full colour movie has her actually being guilty).
The credits at the start of the movie are my favourite – “This Picture is dedicated to all the beautiful women in the world who have shot their men full of holes out of pique.”
“Roxie Hart signs a murder confession in order to attract publicity for her dancing career as dames don’t swing in Cook County. Will everything go as planned?”
“The parts of Roxie and Velma were based on real people whose murder trials took place in 1924. Beulah Annan was the real life Roxie and Belva Gaertner was the real life Velma. Billy Flynn’s real life counterpart was famed Chicago Shyster, W.W. O’Brien.”
