BREAST CANCER CARE
“We combine the personal experiences of people affected by breast cancer with clinical expertise, using this in a unique way to: provide information and offer emotional and practical support, bring people affected by breast cancer together, campaign for improvement in standards of support and care, promote the importance of early detection.”

BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN
“Breast Cancer Campaign’s prime focus is research. We fund innovative, world-class research into breast cancer alone – this separates us from those cancer charities which fund all types of cancer research. We will also fund research at any centre of excellence, anywhere in the UK and Ireland. The Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank, the UK’s first ever national breast cancer tissue bank, opened its doors this year. The Tissue Bank is a unique collaboration with four leading research institutions to create a vital resource of breast cancer tissue for researchers across the UK and Ireland.”

FREEDOM TO MARRY
“Freedom to Marry is the campaign to win marriage nationwide. Driving the Roadmap to Victory national strategy, Freedom to Marry creates the climate for a Supreme Court victory by working on three tracks: growing the national majority for marriage, winning the freedom to marry in more states, and ending federal marriage discrimination. Freedom to Marry partners with individuals and organizations across the country to end the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage and the protections, responsibilities, and commitment that marriage brings.”

MANKIND INITIATIVE
“The ManKind Initiative charity helps and supports male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence. Hundreds of thousands of men suffer from domestic abuse each year and the ManKind Initiative provides a national helpline which helps them (and their children) escape from the suffering they face at home. Our work means men across the UK recognise they are not to blame, they are not weak and they are not alone. We receive no public money and rely on donations and fundraising. Any support you can give goes directly to the helpline so every penny will truly make a difference.”

BLUE RIBBON FOUNDATION
“The Blue Ribbon Foundation has three very important objectives…To raise awareness of male health issues – particularly cancer. To use the Blue Ribbon as a ‘rallying banner’ to help bring about awareness; and to encourage other male health charities to adopt the ribbon. To support other male health and cancer charities. The Blue Ribbon Foundation has no paid staff…”

INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RESCUE
“Your support is vital if we are to make a lasting difference to animals’ lives. Your gift today – whatever sum you choose to give – will help us save animals from suffering and give them the expert treatment and care they need. It will help us feed and care for rescued bears; or keep one of our ambulances on the road to bring injured dogs, primates and other wildlife into our veterinary clinics.“

LEUKAEMIA & LYMPHOMA
“We have supported leukaemia research which is taking place at the Belfast City Hospital, the Haematology Research Group at Queen’s University Belfast. We were founded in 1964 by Mr and Mrs McDowell who lost their teenage daughter to Leukaemia.”

MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION
“We are committed to reducing the suffering caused by mental ill health and to help everyone lead mentally healthier lives. We help people to survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems. We do this by: carrying out research, developing practical solutions for better mental health services, campaigning to reduce stigma and discrimination, promoting better mental health for us all.”

“We’re the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and we’ve been here, looking out for animals, since 1824. It’s our vision to work for a world in which all humans respect and live in harmony with all other members of the animal kingdom.”

“YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. SCOTS GUARDS ASSOCIATION
“Immediate and short term duty of care for wounded soldiers lies with the Ministry of Defence and thereafter with appropriate Government Departments such as Health, Social security and Employment. There are also a number of charities such as SSAFA and the Army Benevolent Fund which do much to help support wounded soldiers and the families of soldiers killed on operations.“

BLIND VETERANS UK
“We are Blind Veterans UK and we believe that no one who has served our country should battle blindness alone. That’s why we’re here to help with lifelong practical and emotional support, which we provide to Armed Forces and National Service veterans regardless of when they served or what caused their sight loss. We help veterans recover their independence and discover life beyond sight loss.”

THE VETERANS’ MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY
“Each year, a small but significant number of Veterans leave the Armed Forces suffering from mental ill-health. It can cause depression, anxiety and, in some cases, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Founded after the First World War, our work is as vital today as it was in 1919. We have a caseload of over 5,400 Veterans, including 662 who have served in Afghanistan.”
~
THE NOT FORGOTTEN ASSOCIATION
“The aims of the Association have remained much the same as they were when it was formed in 1920: to provide leisure and recreation for the benefit of serving and ex-service personnel who are wounded or have sustained permanent injuries. More recently, the involvement of our Armed Forces in places such as Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan has highlighted the dangers of operational service and the continued need for our work.”
~
HELP FOR HEROES
“Our mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for our wounded and their families. We will inspire and enable those who have made sacrifices on our behalf to achieve their full potential. The war in Afghanistan may be nearly over, but for those who have suffered life-changing injuries, their battles are just beginning. We will not let them fight these battles alone.“
